The Instructional Services and Professional Development Division keeps teachers and district leaders abreast of NYSED initiatives and the most current, research based practices to meet the needs of an ever-changing society and student population. To support these efforts, we provide professional development opportunities as well as supplemental instructional services such as enrichment programs, library services, instructional technology, curriculum kits, distance learning and credit recovery programs.

Our curriculum and instruction experts facilitate the work of teachers and administration through expanding their knowledge of standards-based content and pedagogy. Professional development opportunities guide districts in a data- and evidence-based approach to targeting their resources and expertise to improve teaching, learning, and student outcomes. Professional development can be delivered through a variety of formats, including in-person, on-site, online, or virtually, to meet the needs of districts.

Professional Development Workshops

Rockland BOCES workshops are designed to provide educators with opportunities for continued professional growth in all aspects of Common Core curriculum and instructional practice, assessment, and teacher/leader effectiveness.

A number of new professional development programs are offered every year. Special emphasis is placed on working with teachers and administrators in ensuring rigorous instruction and outcomes for all learners.

DASA Training

The New York State Education Department (NYSED) established a new Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) training requirement, effective December 31, 2013, that applies to individuals seeking any certification.

According to the new requirement, all applicants for certification must participate in a six-hour DASA workshop provided by a NYSED-approved DASA Training Provider. Rockland BOCES is an approved provider.

How do I register for a DASA workshop?

To register for DASA workshops, click on MyLearningPlan. Search for ‘DASA’, find the date of the workshop you are interested in attending and follow the instructions to enroll.

What if I’m not employed by a school district yet?

No problem; at the school district prompt, just click ‘Other’.

Do I need school district approval to enroll?

No, not for DASA training.

Where and when are DASA workshops held?

DASA workshops are held online. Registration is available through My Learning Plan.

How much does the workshop cost?

Workshop fee is $80.

How do I pay?

Payments can be made by money order, cash or credit card brought on the day of the training.

When will I receive my certificate?

Participants receive their certificates upon completion of training, as long as payment in full has been received.
