Universal Pre-K

Children are starting school earlier than ever before. Day care programs, pre-kindergarten programs and nursery schools have taken on increased importance as the dynamic of the American family continues to evolve and New York State education standards are on the rise.

Rockland BOCES supports the learning of children through quality programs and services offered by early childhood program providers in Rockland County. Pre-kindergarten sites in our community provide four-year-old children with a universal opportunity to access high-quality pre-kindergarten programs that prepare them for future school success. These programs focus on child-centered activities, development of strong foundational skills in early literacy and numeracy, social interaction and Kindergarten readiness skills. 

Working with local school districts and UPK providers, Rockland BOCES is dedicated to ensuring high quality, developmentally appropriate preschool programs that educate the whole child (socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically). UPK programs overseen by Rockland BOCES provide a learning environment that embraces each child as an individual, focuses on strengths and provides support for emerging skills.
