WEEK 1 – JULY 7
Salon 101: Campers will work in a professional salon to learn the basics of hair styling (blowouts, straightening, curling), manicure/pedicure techniques, make-up application and skin care. Campers will experiment on themselves, plus work on each other.
All About the Dough - Dumplings & More!: Learn how to make potstickers, empanadas, samosas, raviolis, perogies and a few extra tricks and tips on making dumplings.
Junior Veterinarian: Learn what it is like to be a vet! Try your hand at bandaging, performing physical exams and more! Campers will work with a variety of animals in our Animal Science lab housing over 35 animals!
Basic Electrical: Get charged up! Through hands-on projects, campers will learn the basics of the Electrical Trades including safety, electrical theory, circuitry and more!
Carpentry Basics: In our state-of-the-art wood-working shop, campers will learn to plan, measure, cut, build and decorate their chosen project making it ready for home use. A safety test must be completed before hand/power tools are used.
Health Care 101: Learn about the diverse careers available in the Health Care Industry. Participate in hands-on activities and state-of-the-art simulations that showcase the skills, equipment and technology used in the field.
Auto Maintenance & Light Repair: Working on cars in our state-of-the-art automotive shop, campers will learn the basics in automotive upkeep including oil change, tire rotation and brake, steering and suspension systems.
Photography & Photoshop: Campers will learn to take pictures as an art form, visualizing their objects through the lens using the Rule of Thirds. The use of Photoshop for manipulation and touch-ups will also be introduced. Photos will be displayed in the CTEC Gallery on Friday for all to see.
WEEK 2 – JULY 14
Salon 102: Building on Salon 101, but not a prerequisite, campers are able to dabble in all areas of salon work including hair styling, manicure/pedicure techniques, make-up application, and skin care, OR they can choose one or two of these areas as a concentration and fine tune skills. The choice is yours!
Kickin' Up The Potato!: From boiling, baking, roasting, and stuffing, campers will learn to prepare dishes centered around the beloved potato. Dishes will include gnocchi, curly fries, loaded fries, hasselback potatoes, and everything sweet potato, to name a few.

Welding 101: A mix of practical and creative, all in one class! Campers will learn the basic concepts of welding as it relates to manufacturing and fabricating as well as design concepts for metal sculptures.
Plumbing 101: Campers will learn the basics of the plumbing trade including soldering, hand and power tools, and design of a water and drainage system.
Health Care 101: Learn about the diverse careers available in the Health Care Industry. Participate in hands-on activities and state-of-the-art simulations that showcase the skills, equipment and technology used in the field.

Character Animation: Using Adobe Character Animator equipped with automatic lip sync and face and body tracking, campers will learn to use their expressions and movements to animate characters of their choice in real time. State-of-the-art Apple computers will be provided.
WEEK 3 – JULY 21

Baking - Sugar & Sprinkles: Making Cookies and Cakes from scratch. Learn ways to decorate a cake/chocolate chip cookie cake, how to use a pastry bag, and how to write in icing/frosting. The last class will showcase campers' cakes and cookies.
Junior Veterinarian: Learn what it is like to be a vet! Try your hand at bandaging, performing physical exams and more! Campers will work with a variety of animals in our Animal Science lab housing over 35 animals!

WEEK 4 – JULY 28

Mexican Fiesta - Tacos, Burritos and More!: Campers can learn and unleash new cooking techniques while gaining an appreciation for Mexican culture.
Police/CSI & Fire Boot Camp: Campers will learn how to properly investigate a crime scene and field a 911 call, as well as techniques in fingerprinting, handcuffing, self-defense, and more! A field trip to the Rockland County Fire Training Center will introduce students to the basic skills needed to be a firefighter.
Dirt Bikes & Quads: Campers will learn the mechanics behind the 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines needed to operate dirt bikes and quads. Transmissions, steering, suspension and brakes will also be introduced.
Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs Welding/Manufacturing Camp: Campers will learn the basics of welding and CNC manufacturing through the design and creation of a custom-made project. Second-time welding campers will work on more advanced projects using TIG and STICK welding techniques. An opportunity that should not be missed!
Graphic Design - Custom for All Kinds of Garb!: Express your creativity and learn practical and technical design skills to create your own custom brand and awesome apparel. Craft design concepts, make a portfolio and add your favorite designs to your very own custom hoodie and tee shirt.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
FAQ #1: Will lunch be provided?
A: Campers must bring their own lunch, snacks and drinks. They will be given a 30-minute break to eat and socialize.
FAQ #2: Will transportation be provided?
A: Parents must provide campers with transportation to and from camp.
FAQ #3: What is the payment/refund policy?
A: Full payment ($300) must be received upon registration. Refund requests will be honored on a case-by-case basis up to the Friday before the registered week. A $75 processing fee will be charged. FAQ #4: Is there a discount for siblings?
A: If you are registering more than one child, the cost for the second will be $250. If you qualify, please call (845) 627-4770.
Special Education Extended School Year Summer Program
An intensive, six-week program is available to students who require an extended school year (12 months). This program continues with all academic, behavioral, developmental and social needs requirements of a student’s IEP. Related services are provided, as per program model.

Regional Academic Summer School
Rockland BOCES will again offer Regional Academic Summer School during the Summer of 2025.
Regional Academic Summer School provides instructional support to students in participating districts to help them meet graduation requirements and the New York State standards. Component school districts determine student needs.
Regional Summer High School course offerings include English, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science and other areas of instruction, as requested by participating school districts. August Regents exams are offered to all districts, as per NYSED guidelines. Regional Summer Middle School students may receive instruction in English, Mathematics, Social Studies and Science.
The following districts may participate: Clarkstown, East Ramapo, Nanuet, North Rockland, Nyack, Pearl River, South Orangetown, and Suffern

Attendance/Absenteeism
The brief duration of summer school makes regular attendance imperative. Students are expected to attend class and participate each day. Family vacations are not legitimate reasons for absenteeism. Lateness will affect attendance participation points. Parents/guardians will be notified when a student is absent.
Class schedule (students may not select periods)
Monday - Thursday ONLY. NO classes on Fridays.
Period 1: 8:00 am - 10:00 am
Period 2 : 10:05 am - 12:05 pm
Period 3: 12:10 pm - 2:10 pm (only offered if needed)
Transportation
All questions regarding transportation should be directed to the home district. Rockland BOCES does not provide transportation. For students who drive, parking will be assigned by security personnel.
Registration
Students may register in the guidance office of their home school district in June. They may also register at the Regional Summer School office from Tuesday, July 1 - Tuesday, July 8 from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm (noon). No course registrations will be accepted after 12:00 pm (noon) on July 8. Registrations will not be accepted without the approval of the home district.
Students may not enroll in more than TWO courses without the permission of the home school Principal. If registering at the Summer School office, students MUST bring photo ID, copy of report card, copy of IEP/504 (if applicable) and bank check/money order (if applicable).

Regents Exams and Regents Review Courses
Students NOT enrolling in summer school but who want to take a Regents exam for a 6 week course they completed at their home school, must register at their home school or the summer school office from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm (noon) by Friday, July 18. The same deadline applies for students who want to sign up for Regents Review courses.
Out of District Registration
Students not attending a participating school district but whose parents/guardians reside in a participating district can register by obtaining a letter on school letterhead signed by their home school principal stating the necessary courses. The student's NYS Student ID number must be included.
Report Cards/Examinations
Mid-Summer & Final report cards will be mailed home Friday, July 25 & Tuesday, August 26. Students must take mid-term and final exams on scheduled dates. All other questions, please contact Rockland BOCES
Registration Fees - TBD
Fees MUST be paid by money order or certified bank check payable to: Haverstraw-Stony Point Central School District. Please make a note of the student’s name and school district on the money order or certified check. Payments must be made in FULL at registration. There will be no refunds for any individual, once monies have been deposited.
