On May 24, our Rockland BOCES Jesse J. Kaplan School and Hilltop School were among 120 New York area schools recognized as No Place For Hate® for their commitment to creating bias and bully-free, inclusive learning environments.
The recognition ceremony, held at New York University’s Skirball Center for the Performing Arts in Manhattan, hosted over 350 students and educators who participated in the Anti-Defamation League’s (ADL) No Place Hate® program at their school and honored those who went above and beyond to stand up to bullying with Gold Star awards.
To be designated a No Place for Hate® school, each student must have an opportunity to participate in three ADL approved activities that address bias and bullying and involve discussion, active learning and an action plan.
Thanks to Kaplan Assistant Principal Zizette Deutsch and Hilltop Psychologist Erin Woods for leading the effort at Rockland BOCES.
Congratulations to all Kaplan and Hilltop students and faculty who participated in the the No Place For Hate® program during the 2016-2017 school year.
