Dear Rockland BOCES Community,

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that masks and facial coverings will no longer be mandated for students, staff or visitors in schools across New York State effective Wednesday, March 2, 2022. This includes children two years of age and older in childcare facilities.

There are still open questions regarding how this change will affect school bus transportation and protocols such as close contacts, social distancing and quarantine. When Rockland BOCES receives this guidance, another communication will be sent to our entire school community.

Please know that while students, staff and visitors will have the right to determine whether or not to wear a mask inside our schools based upon their own decision-making after March 2, Rockland BOCES will maintain an environment free from harassment, intimidation and/or bullying due to an individual’s choice to continue wearing a mask.

In the meantime, as always, please help us keep our school community healthy by keeping your children home if they are sick or required to isolate/quarantine per Rockland County Department of Health COVID-19 guidance.

Thank you,

New York State COVID-19 Report Card Information

Dear Rockland BOCES Community,

In light of the recent surge of COVID-19 cases in our community, we want to remind parents and caregivers of the different methods by which we communicate with families and staff about confirmed coronavirus cases in our programs.

In adhering to New York State Department of Health and New York State Department of Education mandates regarding COVID-19 reporting, our agency utilizes the COVID-19 School Report Card. All confirmed COVID-19 cases impacting Rockland BOCES programs are reported to these state agencies daily. We are required to disclose positive test results to the state to be included in this dashboard and we are committed to accurately reporting any positive test result within our agency.

This COVID-19 School Report Card is an excellent resource that provides the following information:

  • The total number of teachers, staff and students who have tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 7 and 14 days.
  • The total number of teachers, staff and students in a school.
  • A graphical representation of the seven-day trend in each school.

To view COVID-19 information for a Rockland BOCES District-Based program, click the blue “Public Schools” button and enter the name of the school district in which the program is located into the search box. To view information for an individual school, type that school’s name into the search box.

PLEASE NOTE: Rockland BOCES will continue to communicate directly with parents and guardians when their child is exposed and when school schedules are impacted. All individuals identified as a close contact to a positive case will continue to receive immediate and direct communication.

The use of the COVID-19 School Report Card provides the most timely, accurate and consistent information to all members of our school community.

To help Rockland BOCES respond to positive cases in a timely and efficient manner, we request that parents and guardians contact the program administrator or school nurse immediately after a student or a family member tests positive for COVID-19. This will assist with contact tracing and communicating with our school community. Thank you for working with us as we continue to make our programs safe for students and staff.
