Our Rockland BOCES Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) Certified Automotive Technology team of Peter Moger (Clarkstown South High School) and Luis Pinto-Samayoa (Ramapo High School) demonstrated skill and strategy to earn FIRST PLACE honors during the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association (GNYADA) Lower New York competition on February 11. Moger and Pinto-Samayoa rolled over 11 other teams, wowing the judges with top-tier technical expertise and problem solving acuity on a 2020 Lexus 350 ES. This first-place duo now moves on to the GNYADA national competition in April, where they will face 27 other teams from across the country at the Javits Center in Manhattan. Peter and Luis were pushed to excellence by veteran CTEC Auto instructor Frank Pipolo. Students attending the Rockland BOCES Automotive Technology programs gain necessary experience needed to diagnose, maintain and repair the many complex systems that make up today’s modern cars, trucks and SUVs.
