MOVER of the Month - November 2024

Congratulations to Monica, our Rockland BOCES Jesse J. Kaplan School “MOVER of the Month” for November! Monica’s contagious laughter lights up every room and her playful personality shines as she engages with her peers and staff, even turning a simple activity like puzzle-solving into a joyful interaction. “Monica is always smiling and laughing. She shows a playful side where she drops puzzle pieces to have fun with us,” says Kaplan School Occupational Therapist Devon Cooney. “We can’t wait to see how much she grows here at the Jesse J. Kaplan School.”

Since joining the MOVE™ program, Monica has made incredible progress. Initially, she struggled to take steps, but with the support of her physical and occupational therapists, and using a TRAM mobility device, Monica takes more steps consistently.

Kaplan’s MOVE™ (Mobility Opportunities via Education) program combines therapy and education to teach children with physical disabilities and complex needs the functional skills of sitting, standing, and walking. MOVE™ aims to give children an opportunity to lead more independent and fulfilling lives. Every child deserves the right to MOVE™.
