MOVER of the Month - February 2025

Congratulations to Oscar, our Rockland BOCES Jesse J. Kaplan School “MOVER of the Month” for February! Oscar is an energetic student that loves to keep moving, whether it be in the pool or in the adaptive tricycle. “Oscar is a sweet and great kid, we’ve been working on improving his range of motion and mobility and he’s been doing a great job,” says Kaplan Physical Therapist Ryan Linehan. “He really enjoys moving along and interacting with other people. Our goal is to put him in the best position to socialize and interact with his classmates, peers and teachers because that’s what he loves to do.”

Since joining the MOVE™ program, Oscar has made great progress. Though his muscles can be very tight, Oscar doesn’t let it stop him from stretching out in the pool, pedaling in the adaptive tricycle or standing straight up in the kid walk gait trainer. 

Kaplan’s MOVE™ (Mobility Opportunities via Education) program combines therapy and education to teach children with physical disabilities and complex needs the functional skills of sitting, standing, and walking. MOVE™ aims to give children an opportunity to lead more independent and fulfilling lives. Every child deserves the right to MOVE™.
