MOVER of the Month - December 2024

Congratulations to Kendry, our Rockland BOCES Jesse J. Kaplan School “MOVER of the Month” for December! Kendry’s playful personality and determination inspire staff and peers every day. “Kendry has been with us for about a year and has already made tremendous strides,” says Kaplan Physical Therapist Maura Conway. “Now that he has better trunk and head control, we can’t wait to try the adaptive tricycles with him. We’re so proud of his progress in such a short amount of time.”

Since joining the MOVE™ program, Kendry has made incredible progress. Initially, he struggled to sit up straight, but with the support of his physical and occupational therapists, Kendry now sits up on his own and takes steps with the help of the Kid Walk.

Kaplan’s MOVE™ (Mobility Opportunities via Education) program combines therapy and education to teach children with physical disabilities and complex needs the functional skills of sitting, standing, and walking. MOVE™ aims to give children an opportunity to lead more independent and fulfilling lives. Every child deserves the right to MOVE™.
