MOVER of the Month – December 2023

Congratulations to Mor Thiam — our Rockland BOCES Jesse J. Kaplan School "MOVER of the Month" for December! Since joining the Mobility Opportunities via Education (MOVE™) program last September, Mor has made significant strides in head and body strength, support, control and movement. 

Mor works on daily active sitting balance in a compass chair, enjoys making choices and playing with early learner toys, stands proudly in his supine stander while engaging with adapted toys, and is improving ambulation as he takes steps in the Hydropool and throughout the day in his Kidwalk. "Mor has made such huge progress," said physical therapist Kristin Mullen. "His future is as bright as his smile."

Kaplan’s MOVE™ program combines therapy and education to teach children with physical disabilities and complex needs the functional skills of sitting, standing and walking. MOVE™ aims to give children an opportunity to lead more independent and fulfilling lives. Every child deserves the right to MOVE™.
