Rockland BOCES Welcomes New Student Board Members

Rockland BOCES hosted district superintendents and school board members to welcome new ex officio student board members during the New York State “Welcome Student School Board Members” event on September 17, 2025.

These student representatives serve as nonvoting members of their district boards, providing valuable insight into the student experience and ensuring that youth perspectives are included in discussions and decision-making.

During the event, students networked with superintendents and board members from across Rockland County, heard from virtual guest speakers with the New York State Education Department and received advice from alumni who previously served in the role.

New this academic year, both the Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) and Hudson Valley P-TECH have representatives serving on the Rockland BOCES Board. Bryce Richards (P-TECH) and Shea Sullivan (CTEC, Electrical) will represent their peers while gaining hands-on experience in leadership and governance.
