Rockland BOCES Students Excel at SkillsUSA State Competition

Top industry honors for seven Rockland BOCES students! The seven high school junior and seniors were among 70 Rockland BOCES Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) students who attended the 2024 New York State SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Championships in Syracuse. Held at the New York State Fairgrounds each spring, the annual competition offers Rockland BOCES students the opportunity to compete against other schools from across the state in timed technical, trade and leadership contests. The Rockland BOCES students who placed in the competition are:

Adriana Mendoza - Advertising Design (Suffern High School)  
Christian Grimshaw - Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair (Nanuet High School)  
Miles Shore - Automotive Refinishing Technology (Clarkstown North High School) 
Jacob Ammer - Cabinetmaking (North Rockland High School)
Joseph Binetti - Electrical Construction Wiring (Nanuet High School) 
Gloria Alvarez - Health Occupational Professional Portfolio (Suffern High School) 
Ryan Hatley - Plumbing (Clarkstown North High School)
Christian Grimshaw will advance to the SkillsUSA National Competition this summer.  

Our Career and Technical Educational Center was also recognized as an outstanding SkillsUSA chapter among other BOCES and high schools in New York State. 

SkillsUSA is a nonprofit national education association in partnership with teachers, students, and industry leaders who work with students to prepare them for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations.
