Celebrating National GED Day

Rockland BOCES is joining the national celebration of National GED Day, recognizing the determination and perseverance of adult learners pursuing their General Educational Development (GED) credential.

The GED program provides adults who did not complete a traditional high school education with a second chance to achieve their academic and career goals. Earning a GED opens the door to higher education, new career pathways and greater economic opportunities.

At Rockland BOCES, instructor William Jordan leads students through lessons in science, math and literacy as part of the agency’s GED preparation program. The free classes are open to adults age 21 and older who have not earned a U.S. high school diploma or equivalency.

“Today is a celebration of hard work and resilience,” said a Claudia Murphy, Director of Adult Education. “We’re proud to support learners as they take this important step toward a brighter future.”
