Board of Education

Mrs. Pitruzzella has been a member of the Rockland BOCES Board of Education since 2009. She previously served on the South Orangetown Central School District Board of Education and is a past Board president. She has been an active PTA leader in South Orangetown and has more than a decade of managerial experience in the private and public sectors.

Mrs. Bierker was elected to the Rockland BOCES Board of Education in 2018 to represent the Clarkstown Central School District. Tamara, who also serves as President of the Clarkstown Board of Education, brings five decades of public education experience to BOCES, including many years as Department Chairperson of School Counseling (Guidance) at Felix Festa Middle School in West Nyack. Mrs. Bierker has been honored to receive the Life Member Award, Distinguished Service Award and Outstanding Service award from FFMS and the Clarkstown Council PTA.

Catherine Boera was first appointed to the Rockland BOCES Board of Education in July 2021, representing the Nanuet Union Free School District. She is employed by Active International, where she serves as Senior Vice President, Director of Communication Planning. Catherine cites her biggest accomplishment as mother to her four children. She teaches catechism at church and supports the Pearl River Fire Department, where her husband is a volunteer firefighter. She holds an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan.

Mr. Mark has been a member of the BOCES Board of Education since 2011. He is Vice President of the Nyack Board of Education and is currently serving his sixth term. Mr. Mark is a professional musician and a trustee on the Valley Cottage Library Board.

Sandi Jeanette has been a member of the Rockland BOCES Board of Education since 2007 (representing the Suffern Central School District) and has served as both its Vice President and President. Sandi also served as a member of the Suffern Central School District Board of Education for nine years. In 2021, Sandi retired as Worksite Wellness Coordinator at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern following her previous position as Rockland County Director of the American Heart Association.

Before entering the field of healthcare, Sandi was an educator in the New York City public school system at both the elementary and secondary levels, including time as an ESL instructor at Rockland Community College.

In 2017, Sandi received the Mid-Hudson School Study Council "Award of Excellence" for school board service. She is a member and past president of the Rockland County School Boards Association (RCSBA) and was the recipient of its EDDY Award for Excellence in Education in 2022, and its Hall of Fame award in 2023.

Sandi is a 2014 graduate of the New York State Education Department's Policy Fellowship Program, which examines policies from the federal and state departments of education, the New York State Board of Regents and local boards of education, to promote equitable education policy for all students.
