Read-In Results Announced
A recent informal survey of Rockland BOCES students indicates that 100% of them are glad that winter is, theoretically, nearly over. Because of their typical positive attitudes these young students were also able to point out a few things about winter that they do like; building snow men, snow ball fights, snow days and participating in the Rockland Read-In.

The Read-In, sponsored by the Rockland BOCES School Library System, is an opportunity for students to set aside a morning, an afternoon, or an entire day for reading. Each participating school determines the format of the reading. For the past several years, students at BOCES Hilltop School have happily read their fair share of newspapers, magazines and books.

Anthony F. Hosmer, BOCES School Library System Coordinator says that while the Read-In is not a competition, school coordinators do record how many minutes students have read, and that schools with the largest totals are recognized for their achievement.

This year’s results indicate that students in 55 of the county’s school buildings participated in the Read-In, and that they read a grand total of 3,610,317 minutes.
