Regional Academic Summer School

Rockland BOCES’ summer school programs provide students with the opportunity to complete remedial coursework according to the needs expressed by participating school districts.


Regional Summer High School course offerings include English, social studies, mathematics, science, health, physical education, Spanish and other areas of instruction as requested by participating school districts. August Regents and RCT exams are offered to all districts, as per NYSED guidelines.

Regional Summer Middle School students may receive instruction in English, mathematics, social studies and science.

Frequently-Asked Questions

Q1: Is transportation provided?
Some districts provide transportation for their students. Please contact your school district’s transportation office regarding the location and times for student pick-up and drop-off. If your district does not provide transportation, the parent and/or student is responsible for transportation to/from summer school. Public transportation is available. Rockland Tor bus route #94 will detour from its normal route to drop off and pick up at the Storrs Road driveway entrance to the school. Go to www.rocklandbus.com for TOR # 94 schedule and map. Arrival time at Fieldstone Middle School is the time point called “Hammond Road.” Near North Rockland High School on the map.
Student parking is also available on site for Regional Summer School Students.

Q2: What is the attendance policy?
Students are expected to attend classes and be present for the entire class period. There are No “excused absences such as illness, vacation, sporting events, camps, etc. Students that lose more than six (6) points during the summer will receive “NO Grade.”
Absence =  2 points
Tardy 15+ minutes = 2 points
Tardy less than 15 minutes = .5 points

Q3. My child needs to take medication at school: What do I need to do?
A school nurse will be available for student emergencies and/or medical needs. Please complete and return the Student Emergency Information and Health History Form on the first day of summer school. If you need to speak with the nurse regarding your child’s medical needs, please contact the Summer School Main Office 7am-1pm (845) 942-7500.

Q4. What are the August 2017 Regents test dates?
Regents exams will be administered on Wednesday August 16 and Thursday August 17.

Q5. Where is Regional Academic Summer School located?
Fieldstone Middle School, 100 Fieldstone Drive, Thiells, NY, 10984 (GPS: 100 Firehouse Road, Thiells, NY, 10984). Office hours are 7:30-11:00am, Monday through Friday.

Q6. How do I register for classes?
Contact your home school’s guidance office for days and times to register. After July 5, report to the Regional Academic Summer School Guidance Office with report card, IEP is applicable, photo ID and payment (money order or bank check), if necessary.

Out of District/ Private School Info
Students not attending a participating school district but whose parents reside in a participating school district MUST:
1. Obtain a letter on school letterhead signed by their home school principal which states the necessary courses and includes the student’s NYS Student ID number.
2. Register (and make payment, if applicable) in the high school or middle school guidance office in your participating district. Students can also register at the summer school office beginning Wednesday, July 5. Deadline for course registration is 11:00am on Friday, July 21.
3. Students MUST bring photo ID, copy of report card, copy of IEP/504 (if applicable), and bank check/money order (if applicable) in order to register.

Office hours at Regional Academic Summer School are 7:30-11:00am, Monday through Friday, starting July 5.

Q8. When will Regional Academic Summer School run?
Class for 6 weeks: July 10 through August 15
10-day Review Class: Wednesday, August 2 through Tuesday, August 15

Q9. I am signed up for the Earth Science Regents. Do I need to take the lab?
Students who are taking the Earth Science Regents exam and not sitting for the 6 week course need to sit for the 1 day lab. The labs are offered below.  Time is at 11:00 to 3pm on the following days at Fieldstone Middle School:
Lab A:  Thursday, 7/27
Lab B:  Monday, 7/3
Lab C:  Tuesday, 8/1

Q10. What are the session times for Regional Academic Summer School?
1st period: 7:30-9:10am
2nd period: 9:15-10:55am
3rd period: 11:00am-12:40pm (This is usually for 10-day review class)
First day (July 10) students need to report at 7:00am for updated schedule. Students may not select class periods.

Q11. When are the registration deadlines for Regional Academic Summer School?
Summer School 6 week course: 11am on Friday, July 7th at Fieldstone Middle School
RCT and Regents Exams only: 11am on Friday, July 14th at Fieldstone Middle School
Regents Review Courses: 11am on Friday, July 21st at Fieldstone Middle School.

Q12. When will final grades be mailed home?
Final summer school grades will be sent to district and mailed home on Wednesday, August 23rd. Please do not call office or home school before that date.

Q13. First day of Regional Academic Summer School: What time should my child report and what should they bring?
All students should report to school on July 10th at 7am to pick up most updated schedule. Students also should give their teacher the Student Discipline Statement, Participation Policy and Emergency Information & Health History Form

Q14. What is the 10-day Review Course?
The review class is offered for students that are taking one of the Regents exams. The 10-day class is focused on exam preparation and strategies. The price of the class is $200; a money order or bank check should be made out to: Haverstraw Stony Point Central School District. This price does not include the Regents exam. The 10-day Review Course begins Wednesday, August 2 and ends Tuesday, August 15. The class meets 11:00am-12:40 pm, Monday thru Friday.

Q15. What time should students arrive for Regents testing on August 16 and 17?
Please arrive 30 minutes prior to start time. For example, 8:30am exam, arrive at 8:00am in the Fieldstone Middle School lobby. Students should have proper identification and approved calculators for their exam. Additional information will be mailed home the first week of August.
