Students Map Career Paths at Health Care Career Quest
Students from each of BOCES health related career clusters had a fabulous opportunity on April 16 to hear about a plethora of opportunities that await them, as they decide on very specific paths of interest. This Health Care Career Quest was held at Rockland Community College and was co-sponsored by Rockland BOCES, Rockland Community College, Liberty Partnership and Dominican College.
Students from the New Visions Health Program, LPN Program, Certified Nurse Assisting Program and the Certified Medical Assisting Program heard apanel of health care professional discuss career options. Kathyrn Glade, a speech pathologist at the Jesse Kaplan School was a panel member.
LPN students Kandice Mann and Yadira Gonzalez commented that they gained new insight into mental health professions. “This is an area that I hadn’t given much thought to before today,” said Ms. Gonzalez.
New Visions students, Kaneez Ispahany, Raima Jamal and Kimberly Garcia also had their interest piqued by presentations on opportunities for physical therapists and speech pathologists. Each of these students are beginning their college careers in the sciences rather than a medical specific track. “We knew there were lots of opportunities for us and hearing what we heard today, from these experts confirmed that.”
